Making the right move

Over the past few months, I’ve often (rather cryptically) mentioned that we’ll be revealing some big news in the second half of this year. Well, after an incredibly hectic and fraught period of consultation, planning and organisation, I’m now delighted to announce that we’ll be moving into our all-new purpose-built facilities this autumn.

It’s a really exciting time for us as the move has been a long time in planning and represents the next big phase of our ongoing investment in service delivery. The new offices are not a million miles from our current location near Kingsbridge in the beautiful south Devon countryside, but they’re considerably larger and have been built from the ground up to meet our specific business requirements. As well as the amazing views, there’s also easy access for collections and deliveries, and we’re well positioned to satisfy both domestic and international orders. For our customers the move means even greater efficiency and even more capabilities.

Take our new warehousing space, for example. It’s been designed to hold considerably more material as our existing facility and can easily accommodate flat product alongside round bar. At a time when many popular materials are in short supply, we’ve doubled our stockholding to ensure you you’ll always have preferential access to the UK-certified, premium quality materials you need – at the best possible price.

Then there’s our new workshop and technical service facilities. Firstly, we now have a dedicated metrology lab to house our state-of-the-art apparatus and further enhance quality control procedures. There’s more space to operate the lab equipment, which includes a new surface roughness tester to assess likely product performance in different environments, as well as straightness and roundness testing devices to measure whether materials conform to specific tolerance ranges.

Secondly, we’ve provisioned a large, custom-built area to offer a comprehensive workshop service. It’s kitted out to address almost any request and includes saws to cut bars, plate and billets, a guillotine for sheet and coil materials, and grinding machinery. In addition, we have new coil handling equipment, a new de-coiler allows us to check for imperfections in materials before they’re shipped, pack coils in desired weights and enables us to closely inspect all product before dispatch. It all adds up to tailor-made orders and guaranteed peace-of-mind.

Our new admin offices are pretty smart too. They’ve been designed to a very high spec and equipped with all the latest tech to facilitate a smooth ordering process and the top-level customer support you’ve come to expect. There’s even a dedicated archive space that serves as a back-up to digital records and provides a physical paper audit-trail.

I’ll keep you updated as the move progresses, and we’ll be posting some pictures soon, too. When the dust settles, come and see the new place in action, but of course our customers are always welcome anytime. Until then it’s business as usual and stay tuned for updates on our further investment plans, all centred around improving our ability to serve our customers.
